While raising awareness about the violence in Sudan, actor George Clooney contracted malaria. Clooney told Piers Morgan on the show Piers Morgan Tonight that he had contracted the disease. Speaking to Morgan via satellite on Wednesday, Morgan tweeted that the actor was fighting an illness and then released video from the segment.
Reportedly, he has since fully recovered from the mosquito-borne infectious disease.
“Even with malaria it’s just good fun,” Clooney said. “I guess the mosquito in Juba looked at me and thought I was the bar.”
He then revealed he had contracted the disease not once, but twice.
Clooney later told TMZ, “This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa can be reduced to a bad ten days instead of a death sentence.”
