Daylight Savings 2009 Begins Nov. 1

Get ready for an extra hour of sleep starting November 1, people. Daylight saving time in most of the United States ends this at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1  when we “fall back” into daylight saving time mode. Most U.S. residents set their clocks one hour forward in spring and one hour back in fall. But people in Hawaii and Arizona along with the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the Virgin Islands—will not be messing with their clocks.

Yes, the downside of this extra hour of sleep is leaving work in the dark. This tradition was started as a way to give farmers a longer workday for the fall harvest season.
