If the new Apple laptop could talk it would be screaming from the nearest rooftop because Apple REALLY wants you to know that their latest is “the greenest MacBook ever!!”
Well, actually, hanging on to your current laptop is even greener. That’s what I’ll be doing.
The eco-specs on this MacBook are the following: The new MacBook’s main frame is cut out of a single piece of aluminum, and the discarded metal is recycled. It shows up to stores in 41 percent less packaging than the last generation, and can be returned to Apple for recycling at the end of its life. Like other Apple ‘puters, the new MacBook has arsenic-free glass, is backlit with energy-efficient LEDs, and contains no mercury, brominated flame retardants, or PVC. Need more information? Feel free to read the MacBook Environmental Report.
Apple is all over the green tech these days, since they have been a favorite target of Greenpeace in the past for having non eco-friendly products. Steve Jobs has made claims that he will clean almost all toxic materials from all of Apple’s hardware by the end of 2008. We’ll see.
