Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone went on The View this morning to plug her new vegan cookbook called “The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet.”
Because Silverstone acknowledges that everyone is not ready to cut out meat, fish, and dairy products, she gives suggestions in three phases:
- Flirts: tips for those who want to “test the waters” of the vegan lifestyle. Alicia gives ideas on how to swap plant-based foods for meat and shows how even small changes can make a big difference.
- Vegans: the second stage moves toward completely forgoing animal products, but makes the transition more simple by allowing convenience vegetarian-based foods.
- Superhero: the final stage moves the dieter into a full macrobiotic style of diet, which includes more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Sea vegetables, relatively uncommon in the standard American diet, are introduced at this stage.
“The Kind Diet” hit bookshelves across the country yesterday! Alicia says, “My big hope for this book is to have as many human beings on the planet read it as possible, because the information contained within its pages is powerful and life-changing! I especially want people who think they could never be vegan/vegetarian to read this and realize that they needn’t make huge changes. I just want them to take in the information and realize what is possible — including improved health, a renewed sense of happiness, and a contribution toward improving the health of our planet.”
