The “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon organized by George Clooney brought in the most money a telethon of this kind has ever raised, bringing in an astonishing $58 million for victims of the Haiti earthquake.
And the money keeps coming in from around the world, with donations being made via telephone, online and mobile; iTunes sales as well as large corporate donations, which are still being counted. Friday’s broadcast of “Hope for Haiti Now” featured hundreds of stars asking for donations on the air, manning the phones and giving amazing performances.
With musical performances from Bono, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce, celebrity speakers included, Brad Pitt, Chris Rock, Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jon Stewart, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hanks, Muhammad Ali and Matt Damon. Anderson Cooper reported live from Haiti.

I have been praying for those in Haiti & California. Those in Haiti truly are in desperate need of clean water, food, medical care, and some sort of shelter; tents (to provide privacy for basic functions) waste disposal, identifying the dead (when possible) and burials of the dead. These are immediate needs. Infrastructure and homes less likely to crumble in future earthquakes will be needed down the line along with much needed follow-up medical care. I gave what I could, although it’s only a drop in the ocean. If everyone gives just something, it will help. New Orleans still hasn’t been restored proving we cannot rely on our governments. We must rely on each other. Thanks to Mr. Clooney for organizing this. By organizing this, he gave all of us one place to donate whatever we could to make a combined effort to help our brothers & sisters in need. A combined effort is usually stronger than a lone one. May our Heavenly Father bless all those who have done whatever they could do to help.

Beyonce Knowles is one of my top celebs in history. I really wish she keeps on performing.
