Eco-Friendly Stimulus Package For Obama Approval

barack obama

A eco-friendly economic package is waiting for the approval of President-elect Barack Obama when he takes office on January 20. Among the features of the stimulus package are the creation of green jobs including weather-proofing thousands of residences, installing high-tech meters to monitor and reduce power use in homes, and grants to state and local governments to build mass transit systems and infrastructure projects.

Obama said during his campaign that he would back a bill capping greenhouse gas discharges while permitting companies to trade in pollution credits. He said $150 billion of the income derived from the planned carbon permits covering 10 years will be used to fund energy efficient and alternative power projects. About 2.5 million green jobs are expected to be created by the green stimulus package in the next 2 years.

The national debt clock started in 1989 with a value of $2.7 trillion. In September 2008 it was $10 trillion. That’s a $7.3 trillion increase over 19 years (or 228 months).

Our debt has increased $1.5 trillion in the last TEN MONTHS. That is $150 billion a month. Multiply $150,000,000,000 x 228 months and you get $34.2 TRILLION dollars.

Obama has been in office for 6 of the last 10 months, and we’ve had a Democratic congress (ding ding ding) for the last two years of the Bush presidency. You’ll remember that Congress is the group of people who proposes and passes new bills, including spending bills. If we spent over the last 19 years like we have in the last 10 months, we would be $34.2 trillion in debt as a nation. Sounds like a great idea.

As it stands, your children (if you have any) owe $30,000 as their part of the U.S. national debt, and you do too.

Still think he’s great because he’s good with a teleprompter and talks about hope and change? Change is all you’ll have left in your pockets when he’s done with his pork bills, and hope is the only thing you’ve got to get you through the days. You can’t eat hope.
