Coca-Cola taking a giant green step and is more than doubling the size of its hybrid electric delivery fleet to have 327 eco-friendlier hybrid trucks – making their deliveries in the U.S. and Canada – making it the largest hybrid fleet in North America.

In addition to adding 185 hybrid electric trucks, Coca-Cola is also launching a new vehicle that is bigger than those in its existing fleet of heavy duty hybrids. This isn’t the first eco-friendly effort by Coke, this year. They’ve also recently overhauled they’re lighting systems at 24 facilities in California in an energy efficiency drive that will cut electricity use by 5.6 million kilowatts-hours a year.

This recent move towards an all-hybrid delivery vehicle fleet is a great move from Coca-Cola.The jumbo hybrids they use use 30 percent less fuel and produce about 30 percent fewer emissions than standard tractors. Now all they have to do is start making something healthy to drink…
