Stephen Schafer, a kite surfer, was killed today after being surrounded and repeatedly bitten by what authorities are saying may have been a group of juvenile great white sharks.

Schafer was found covered with bite wounds in the water off Stuart Beach on Florida’s Atlantic coast.
When a lifeguard saw the man was in trouble and paddled out to investigate, he found Mr Schafer surrounded by the sharks.The lifeguard scared the predators off with his paddle then paddled back to shore with the victim.

He had multiple bite wounds, including an 10-inch bite on his right thigh and teeth marks on his right and left buttocks, officials said. Schafer, who was 38 years old was taken to Martin Memorial North Medical Centre, where he later died.
