NBC Saves Millions Going Green

NBC Green

NBC Universal has reportedly saved a whopping $2 million last year by going green.

NBC is big on promoting environmentally friendly practices and they say that both viewers and advertisers are responding well to their efforts. In November of 2007, NBC launched its first official Green Week where they aired over 150 hours of environmentally themed content. NBC repeated the format in April of 2008, when they celebrated Earth Day with over 100 hours of green-themed content, which they dubbed Earth Week 2008.

The media giant has reduced power costs and telling its executives to lay off the bottled water.

NBC executive Lauren Zalaznick says advertisers are interested in reaching consumers concerned about the environment.
