Greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland have dropped by 20% over the past 20 years, according to statistics published this week. Scottish Government figures for 2008 reveal that the country’s emissions fell by 21% in the 18 years after 1990 when taking emissions trading within the EU into account. This is halfway towards Scottish government’s target of a 42% reduction in emissions by 2020, a spokesperson said.

The report also showed that emissions of six greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, methane and hydrofluorocarbons, fell by 3% in 2008 compared to the previous year.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the country of New Zealand earlier today, and according to sources, has caused significant damage.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 4:35 a.m. local time Saturday, and lasted for approximately 40 seconds. The epicenter of the quake was 19 miles northwest of the city of Christchurch, New Zealand’s second largest urban area with approximately 375,000 residents.

The earthquake was large enough to also be felt in New Zealand’s capital, Wellington, which is 186 miles from the epicenter.

Emergency personnel aboard four boats, two planes and seven helipcopters are racing to the scene of yet another oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico.

This latest oil rig disaster is off the central coast of Louisiana approximately 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay, just west of the BP oil rig disaster that caused the devastating oil spill which began last April.

This most recent blast was reported at 9:30AM CDT this morning by a commercial helicopter. While all 13 oil rig crew members were apparently in the water after the explosion, there was only one injury and no deaths.

Sure, he loved the planet, but did “radical environmentalist” James J. Lee really need to take hostages?  Police shot and killed James J. Lee, a “radical environmentalist” who has been opposed to the Discovery Channel for years. Lee, who believed the Discovery Channel caused the earth more harm than good, published his ramblings on his www.savetheplanetprotest.com website.

Lee’s “Save the Planet” mantra holds the belief that by decreasing the human population and saving animals, the planet will be saved. Lee broadcasted that “the planet does not need humans” and claimed that his Savetheplanetprotest.com is a direct protest aimed specifically at the Discovery Channel.

During the standoff at Discovery Channel headquarters, police say tactical officers managed to get close to Lee  and saw him point a handgun at one of the three hostages, which ultimately lead to police shooting and killing Lee. Lee had entered the Washington building around 1 p.m, carrying a handgun and canisters attached to his body. All the hostages were able to escape unharmed.

Police say the gunman, who is identified as James Lee, who took three people hostage at the Discovery Channel building, was killed after they shot him. All three hostages were alive and well, and safe.

Police spent the afternoon negotiating with Lee after he entered the Washington building around 1 p.m, carrying a handgun and canisters attached to his body.

Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger says an explosive device may have detonated, and the suspect may have brought other devices into the building. The 1,900 people who work in the building were able to get out safely.

Before he was killed Lee, released this set of demands to the Discovery Channel.

This is the list of demands released by the gunman holding hostages in the Discovery Channel building. We’ve left the list as is, without correcting spelling or grammatical errors.

The Discovery Channel MUST broadcast to the world their commitment to save the planet and to do the following IMMEDIATELY:

1. The Discovery Channel and it’s affiliate channels MUST have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn’s “My Ishmael” pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other’s inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation. Do both. Do all until something WORKS and the natural world starts improving and human civilization building STOPS and is reversed! MAKE IT INTERESTING SO PEOPLE WATCH AND APPLY SOLUTIONS!!!!

2. All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.

3. All programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass-destruction anymore. Instead, talk about ways to disassemble civilization and concentrate the message in finding SOLUTIONS to solving global military mechanized conflict. Again, solutions solutions instead of just repeating the same old wars with newer weapons. Also, keep out the fraudulent peace movements. They are liars and fakes and had no real intention of ending the wars. ALL OF THEM ARE FAKE! On one hand, they claim they want the wars to end, on the other, they are demanding the human population increase. World War II had 2 Billion humans and after that war, the people decided that tripling the population would assure peace. WTF??? STUPIDITY! MORE HUMANS EQUALS MORE WAR!

4. Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed. Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down! This is your obligation. If you think it isn’t, then get hell off the planet! Breathe Oil! It is the moral obligation of everyone living otherwise what good are they??

5. Immigration: Programs must be developed to find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that. Find solutions to stopping it. Call for people in the world to develop solutions to stop it completely and permanently. Find solutions FOR these countries so they stop sending their breeding populations to the US and the world to seek jobs and therefore breed more unwanted pollution babies. FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THEM TO STOP THEIR HUMAN GROWTH AND THE EXPORTATION OF THAT DISGUSTING FILTH! (The first world is feeding the population growth of the Third World and those human families are going to where the food is! They must stop procreating new humans looking for nonexistant jobs!)

6. Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don’t build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!

7. Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people’s brains until they get it!!

8. Saving the Planet means saving what’s left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies! You’re the media, you can reach enough people. It’s your resposibility because you reach so many minds!!!

9. Develop shows that will correct and dismantle the dangerous US world economy. Find solutions for their disasterous Ponzi-Casino economy before they take the world to another nuclear war.

10. Stop all shows glorifying human birthing on all your channels and on TLC. Stop Future Weapons shows or replace the dialogue condemning the people behind these developments so that the shows become exposes rather than advertisements of Arms sales and development!

11. You’re also going to find solutions for unemployment and housing. All these unemployed people makes me think the US is headed toward more war.

Humans are the most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around and are wrecking what’s left of the planet with their false morals and breeding culture.

For every human born, ACRES of wildlife forests must be turned into farmland in order to feed that new addition over the course of 60 to 100 YEARS of that new human’s lifespan! THIS IS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE FOREST CREATURES!!!! All human procreation and farming must cease!

It is the responsiblity of everyone to preserve the planet they live on by not breeding any more children who will continue their filthy practices. Children represent FUTURE catastrophic pollution whereas their parents are current pollution. NO MORE BABIES! Population growth is a real crisis. Even one child born in the US will use 30 to a thousand times more resources than a Third World child. It’s like a couple are having 30 babies even though it’s just one! If the US goes in this direction maybe other countries will too!

Also, war must be halted. Not because it’s morally wrong, but because of the catastrophic environmental damage modern weapons cause to other creatures. FIND SOLUTIONS JUST LIKE THE BOOK SAYS! Humans are supposed to be inventive. INVENT, DAMN YOU!!

The world needs TV shows that DEVELOP solutions to the problems that humans are causing, not stupify the people into destroying the world. Not encouraging them to breed more environmentally harmful humans.

Saving the environment and the remaning species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels.

The humans? The planet does not need humans.

You MUST KNOW the human population is behind all the pollution and problems in the world, and YET you encourage the exact opposite instead of discouraging human growth and procreation. Surely you MUST ALREADY KNOW this!

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami are warning people on the East Coast that Hurricane Earl, which formed on Sunday, is already a major hurricane with sustained winds of 120 mph (193 kph.) The hurricanes path would run north of the Caribbean, then bend to the north, roughly parallel to the U.S. East Coast.

“Interests from North Carolina all the way to Maine should keep an eye on the system,” said Jessica Schauer, a meteorologist at the Hurricane Center.

In Antigua, the storm has destroyed at least one home and at least eight people had to be evacuated, though there were no reports of critical injuries. Emergency response officials said about 350 people were in shelters. Local weather authorities reported at least 5 inches of rain and 10-foot waves.

Costner got an approval in June to place 32 of his machines into the Gulf of Mexico and is now looking for help while attending ONS 2010, an oil and energy industry panel in Stavanger, Norway. Costner hopes to find business partners that will help him to propel his technology forward.

Roast beef and ham distributed to Walmart delis all over the country and used to make sandwiches has been recalled because it might be tainted with the potentially harmful bacteria known as Listeria, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

It hasn’t been made completely and publicly clear how many Walmarts sold the meat products. A retail sample collected in Georgia tested positive for Listeria, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children or elderly people, or those with weakened immune systems.

The products being recalled were all labeled as Marketside Grab and Go Sandwiches.

They included Black Forest Ham With Natural Juices Coated with Caramel Color; Hot Ham, Hard Salami, Pepperoni, Sandwich Peppers; Virginia Brand Ham With Natural Juices, Made in New York, Fully Cooked Bacon, Sandwich Pickles, Sandwich Peppers; and Angus Roast Beef Coated with Caramel Color.

Tropical Storm Danielle has now gained enough strength as it rages in the open Atlantic, that it has been upgraded to hurricane status. At this time, the storm system is still a significant distance from land.Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Sunday that Danielle had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and predicted that the storm would become a hurricane by at Tuesday at the latest.

The strong winds from the southwest off the Atlantic coast should keep Hurricane Danielle from reaching North American land.
